About us

We provide finance to homeowners in their later years through equity release.

We have three business activities, organised as follows:

Equity release activities:

All our equity release activities are authorised by the Financial Services Authority.

Investment division

We invest in home reversion products and other property related equity release plans, which are managed by Home & Capital Trust. We invest in home reversions arranged by the Home & Capital group and other providers; we also buy equity release assets in the secondary market.

We are incorporated in England and are listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange (AIM). Our business activities are in the United Kingdom.

With a record of substantial growth under the existing management team since 1999, we now own or manage over £300m of equity release assets.

We intend to build on our position as a market leader in equity release.

Critical success factors

The key factors for Sovereign’s continuing success are:

Equity release

Equity release enables retired people to realise cash from their homes and improve their lifestyles. The equity release market has grown rapidly in recent years with in excess of £1.2bn of plans written in 2007. Industry commentators expect this to rise to £2.4bn by 2010.

Our subsidiary, Home & Capital Advisers, provides advice to homeowners over 55+ considering raising money from their homes through equity release.

Home reversions

Under a home reversion plan, a homeowner sells all or part of their home in return for a lump sum payment, or series of payments, and the right to remain in the house until they die or decide to move out. View more on the market.

Our subsidiary, Home & Capital Trustee www.homecapital.co.uk arranges home reversion plans. New business is only accepted through qualified intermediaries.
